According to Samopomich deputy Yehor Soboliev, the President and some of his entourage hope to release steam with the help of early parliamentary elections. That is, since people are outraged now, they take to the streets – they should be given an opportunity to vote. After all, elections are all the same held according to their rules: Mykhailo Okhendovskyi is still the chairman of the CEC, the oligarchs still have a lot of money for advertising and promoting those whom they need, and the work of the army of “vote buyers” is well-established.”
The MP insists that real elections can only take place under several conditions. First of all, the parliament must adopt a new electoral law – on the election of MPs on a proportional basis with open party lists. Secondly, there should be an independent Prosecutor General and the Minister of Internal Affairs who will “slap on the wrist those who will bribe people.” And thirdly – if there is a ban on political advertising, which is “the main weapon of the oligarchs in any elections.”
“Oligarchs and their representatives are always ready for elections. Therefore, they have never lost a single election yet. But the society is not ready for elections now. We have a lot of people who are ready to rebel against injustice, but very few people who are ready to do justice. Therefore, one of our tasks is to find the people who can replace those corrupt people in power at all levels – ranging from the central authorities to the district level. The society has to delegate worthy people and elect them,” concludes Yehor Soboliev.
