Yehor Soboliev on the work of the anti-corruption committee: “People either do not come or do not vote for the agenda”

According to Yehor Soboliev, people’s deputy representing Samopomich Union faction and chairman of the parliamentary committee for Prevention and Combating of Corruption, in March of this year, the Petro Poroshenko Bloc delegated three of its members to the committee.

Thus, together with the People’s Front, the Opposition Bloc, the “Revival” group, and the “Will of the People” group they constitute a stable majority and block the work of the committee.

“We were leaders in revision of laws and stopped 377 bills that bore signs of corruption. But now all important issues are blocked – people either do not come or do not vote for the agenda. And unfortunately, here in the Verkhovna Rada nobody has the right to force no one, only voters can do this.

For my part, I am ready to seek mutual understanding with everyone, but only if our mutual aim is to ensure that anti-corruption legislation is implemented, not sabotaged. I understand that many have a great desire to return to the old times of mutual covering-up system and the unpunished plunder of the state. But we are against this and will not allow them to do this,” says Yehor Soboliev.
