Yesterday the Verkhovna Rada Committee on State Building and Urban Development considered the draft law “On the temporarily occupied territories” for the first time and decided to create a working group headed by the deputy of the Samopomich Union faction, Liubomyr Zubach.
As noted by Deputy Chairman of the Samopomich faction, Yehor Soboliev, some MPs believe that in this way they can buy time.
“Despite the cold, a lot of deputies are now out blocking the railway track by means of which dozens of echelons transport goods to the occupied territories. As far as I know they are planning to block more railway lines. Many people in the Armed Forces of Ukraine sympathize with them.
In the morning there was a shameful incident: there were attempts to dismiss the head of a battalion, whose soldiers being on their leave decided to support this trade blockade. I am convinced that such repressions and pressure on the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will do nothing good. On the contrary, this will persuade people that it is a correct and important initiative,” says Yehor Soboliev.
In addition, there is another reason to hurry – the heads of the enterprises in Luhansk and Donetsk regions reported to the people’s deputies and the participants of the blockade that they had been pressurized to start preparing power and heat cutoffs.
“This is a truly cynical strategy. Hopefully it will not be used. But once again I’m asking all members of the Parliament who want to resolve this problem – let’s stop the trade carried out on blood.
A working group has been established; within the next week we can arrive at a common decision and vote for it. This will be the help of the Parliament for the people of Ukraine, the Armed Forces, and veterans of the war for independence who took the initiative,” summed up Yehor Soboliev.
