On Thursday, February 14, there was a working group meeting which discussed a bill #8449-d on auctions for green tariffs/projects. According to MP Viktoriia Voitsitska from the Samopomich Union faction, if the current green tariffs are preserved, electricity for the population will cost 4-5 hryvnias, which is absolutely unaffordable for Ukrainians.
The parliamentarian notes, “That is why we should talk about competitive, transparent pricing based on open auctions, which will result in lower tariffs and will help stabilize electricity prices.”
It is ridiculous that in Ukraine, which is the poorest country in Europe, “green” tariffs are 2-3 times higher than in rich Germany. These are only Ukrainian oligarchs that are earning money on this.
Viktoriia Voitsitska says, “Germany and other European countries have long introduced auctions in the “green” energy industry. The introduction of auctions there has almost halved tariffs on average.”
Meanwhile, In Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada cannot approve the decision. The people’s deputy adds, “Let me remind you, the parliament has already cut the “green” tariffs, retrospectively, and this only took a few weeks. And here it takes a year to make a decision.”
According to the MP, we should not retrospectively reduce tariffs for existing stations, but it is necessary to reduce the tariff on the sun from April 1 for new stations.
Viktoriia Voitsitska concludes, “We demand competitive and transparent auction-based pricing. The increase in the price of electricity, including for the population, is absolutely unfair and unacceptable.”
