“It is not Sadovyi to determine who will get what place on the list; these will be ordinary party members who will decide. The open lists principle in action.” This is how Samopomich leader Andriy Sadovyi characterized the principles of selecting and ranking Samopomich parliamentary candidates.
The party will form a list for the upcoming parliamentary elections on the basis the party members’ voting in the regions – those who get more support from the party members, will rank higher on the general party list. This procedure starts on May 13 and will last until May 27.
“We support the law on parliamentary elections under the proportional system with open lists. Since the parliament has not yet adopted it, we, as a party, will apply these principles ourselves. Everything is as open and transparent as possible,” says Andriy Sadovyi.
Presently, Samopomich activists are going to rate the current members of Samopomich parliamentary faction, as well as the representatives of regional offices. At the same time, one-third of the future list is reserved for community activists, independent experts and potential allies.
Earlier, Andriy Sadovyi stated that more than 80% of the Samopomich parliamentary list would consist of “fresh faces”. In addition, the party intends to adhere to the gender quota.
Once the electoral list is formed, Samopomich promises to make it public for general discussions, as it did in the parliamentary elections in 2014.
