The Cabinet of Ministers reported an increase in wages of Ukrainians, while due to the indexation of wages the real incomes declined. This was stated from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada by MP, a member of the “Samopomich” Union faction, the Secretary of the Committee on Family Matters, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism, Anna Romanova.
“We’ve seen the Prime Minister reporting and cynically saying that Ukrainians’ incomes increased by 13%, but this is a lie. State employees are ordinary doctors, educators, teachers. For January 2016 they received a salary decreased by 10-40%. These are 200 forgone hryvnias of 2,000 hryvnias salary. Why did this happen? Because our government, which is currently reporting on improving social standards, has introduced the 3% rate of indexation,” said the MP.
“As a result the salaries had not been indexed and people received the salaries at the level of 2008. Where’s the increase of social standards and real incomes here,” asked the parliamentarian.
“Hryvnia has devaluated, prices are increasing, people are in despair with no money, they do not know how to live. And the government is reporting that people are better off now. It cannot continue like this. The full government must resign,” said the MP.
