At NATO headquarters they clearly understand the real situation in Ukraine, though still hope for the effectiveness of the Minsk agreements. This was announced by deputy of the “Samopomich” Union faction Oleksiy Skrypnyk from Brussels, where a working meeting of the NATO representatives and the Ukrainian parliamentarians took place.
“NATO has no illusions about the hybrid war in Ukraine, but they want the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to adopt a number of laws necessary for the implementation of the Minsk agreements. In particular, the law on the regions and the special status of the territories,” – stated Skrypnyk.
He noted that the representatives of the Alliance emphasized the deadline for the Russian side, which is to fulfill its obligations under the agreement.
“However, upsetting is the fact that there has been no clear answer from the representatives of the Alliance to the question, what the reaction of NATO will be, in case Russia doesn’t stop the escalation of the conflict,” – said the MP.
At the same time, the participants of the meeting in Brussels emphasized the necessity to deepen cooperation within the existing NATO programs in which Ukraine participates.
“On the positive side – we have heard the specifics on what our parliament needs to do in order to intensify the cooperation. A simple example – there is the problem of taxation of the assistance we can get. This issue must be considered at the legislative level precisely,” – he said.
