The reasons for a rise in the price of drugs are the devaluation of the national currency and the imposition of the value added tax that came into effect on April 1, last year. This was stated by deputy of the “Samopomich” Union Iryna Sysoyenko on the air of “Kyiv” TV channel.
“Most of all rose the prices of imported drugs, significantly outstripping the national currency depreciation. And the cost of the medicines of domestic manufacture, though also depends on the exchange rate, today is five times lower than of those imported,” – noted the deputy.
Iryna Sysoyenko stressed the need to find and use domestic counterparts, since the drugs of Ukrainian origin with the same active ingredient are not less effective, but are cheaper than the imported ones.
“Due to the fact that the domestic pharmaceutical companies sustain the costs, vital medicines are available to our patients,” – she stated.
In addition, Sysoenko reminded that “Samopomich” Union faction had insisted on the nonproliferation of the additional 5% tax on imported drugs, so as not to cause an even greater rise in prices.
