“Samopomich” demanding resignation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Prystaiko

Yesterday, 28 April, Deputy Foreign Minister V. Prystaiko in an interview with “Voice of America” said that Ukraine should hold elections in the occupied territories this summer, and that as a result of these elections, today’s terrorists might be elected, because they “now have a certain influence in the territories” and the Ukrainians “will have to live with it”, “will have to find an opportunity to interact with them, both in the parliament, governmental and local structures.”

Samopomich considers the statements of the Deputy Minister to be unacceptable, the ones that do not meet the national interests of Ukraine, threaten national sovereignty, and are made with an abuse of authority.

Ukrainian Parliament did not consent to holding of elections in the territory actually occupied by the Russian Federation.

Moreover, “Samopomich” faction deputies, O. Bereziuk, Ye. Soboliev, I. Miroshnichenko, together with the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, O. Syroid, are now negotiating with the US State Department, the Pentagon, the White House, congressmen and senators, explaining to what kind of mortal danger such “elections” can expose the Ukrainian state.

Elections in Donetsk and Luhansk are possible only after full restoration of sovereignty of Ukraine in the whole territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and elimination of the consequences of the Russian occupation, which will require a lot of time and effort. Talking about elections in the occupied territories now – when there are Russian tanks and “Grads”, when “sovereignty” is in hands of Federal Security Service and Chief Intelligence Directorate, and the population is being heavily brainwashed – means promoting the plans of the Kremlin.

In this regard, Samopomich requires recalling Deputy Minister V. Prystaiko from the business trip and his immediate dismissal, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ reporting to the Parliament on the Ministry’s representatives’ upholding the public interests.
