The “Samopomich” Union faction has repeatedly argued against the unjustified increase of tariffs for electricity and heat. In order to ensure transparency in the energy and utilities “Samopomich” offers to significantly modify the government bill № 2966 on the National Commission exercising the state regulation in the energy sector and public utilities.
“Each consumer who uses gas, electricity, water, heat is waiting for this bill. At a time when tariffs are growing and changing, it is important for each person that there is a referee at the state level that will protect their interests. This law is also necessary for public utility companies engaged in heating and water supply. They also need transparent and clear rules of their activities,” said MP Aliona Babak.
“The bill № 2966 will bring us closer to the standards of an independent energy market. There are still some fundamental issues that need to be reviewed in this bill. The main thing is to ensure a fair and independent selection of members of the Commission, which will be a guarantee of the impartiality of the body,” said the secretary of the Committee on Energy, Viktoriia Voitsitska.
The bill №2966 is directed to the repeat first reading and a follow-up revision in the relevant committee. It is expected that the bill will return to the session hall no sooner than the next week.
