This week in Strasbourg there was a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. “Samopomich” deputies, Serhiy Kiral and Olena Sotnyk, together with their colleagues were the delegates from Ukraine.
MP Kiral, who heads the PACE Sub-Committee on Environment and Energy, suggested holding the next meeting on September 29 in Lviv. The idea was supported unanimously by the Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development Committee, subsequently PACE Bureau is expected to voice support.
“This is an opportunity to raise the issue of how to decrease the impact of the effects of human activity on the environment, in particular the problem of waste, on the international level,” said Serhiy Kiral. “Indeed, there was a tragedy in Lviv. And we will be solving the problem, engaging international support as well. Let our case be an example for the whole world, because such an event can happen anywhere. In September in Lviv we encourage considering the issues of implementation of the Paris agreement on combating climate change, energy efficiency and ways to reduce the anthropogenic impact on the environment.”
