The “Samopomich” faction has no intention to stay in the coalition, unless it works properly and shows results.
This was stated by Oleh Bereziuk, Chairman of the “Samopomich” faction, following the meeting of the deputies of his political force with the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.
“We have shown the level of expert knowledge that we have. We have mentioned that we are going to fulfil our mandate and our functions to an accomplished standard. And there are three functions expected from us – development of legislation, representational functions and a controlling function,” said Bereziuk.
He said that during the meeting the main attention had been paid to three issues: reform of the prosecution and the judiciary, transparent of gas tariffs calculation, as well as the problem of the defence sector.
“We provided our arguments which proved there was no Prosecutor’s Office in the country left. And without a Prosecutor’s Office there is no sense in our existence either. After all, when high-quality laws are not exercised by the Prosecutor’s Office – what is the Parliament for?” he stated.
The faction reiterated its position on the need of personnel changes in the Prosecutor General’s Office, starting with its top officials.
As for the issue of judicial reform, the faction offers while preparing amendments to the Constitution to introduce a regulation on the replacement of judges.
In addition, the deputies expressed their outrage about full deregulation of the energy system, due to which the issue of tariffs is not clear.
Regarding the matters of defence, the MPs referred to the facts of inefficient use of resources.
“At the end of the three-hour discussion, we decided that so far we stay in the coalition, we are partners. We asked not to take our constructive criticism as accusations or attacks. We do not want to criticize, but to work on the result,” he stressed.
