“Samopomich” Union faction deputies met with the President of Ukraine in order to become an alternative source of high-quality and reliable information about what is going on in society. This was reported by Chairman of the faction Oleh Bereziuk.
He noted that during the meeting the members of the faction had informed the President about the situation in the east of Ukraine and the problems concerning the construction of fortifications, had rendered the thoughts of people, heard during a visit to the frontline areas.
“We are glad that a lot of information possessed by the President and provided by the MPs matches. The President is really aware of the situation,” stated the deputy.
In addition, the deputies and the President discussed the issue of the next elections.
“The elections must be held under the new electoral system with proportional open lists. Then people will know whom they elect, and the parties will be held accountable for their policies,” said Oleh Bereziuk.
The deputy mentioned that during the meeting there had been a tough discussion on the constitutional reform.
“We must solve the problem of checks and balances in the interaction of the Ukrainian Government and the President, as well as to carry out decentralization. Decentralization is the key to the success of the country, therefore, we will insist on the decentralization processes that have declared,” said the parliamentarian.
The separate issue of the discussion was the tariffs policy. The deputies informed the President that their analysis of the documents provided by Naftogaz and the National Electricity Regulatory Commission gave grounds to state that in the calculations there was a significant error that had to be corrected.
“The error in the calculation of the tariff costs the citizens 20-30% of the tariff’s price. Therefore, now it is important that the representatives of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Ministry of Energy, Naftogaz, along with the MPs, particularly Aliona Babak, make recalculations to rectify this error,” said the deputy.
“Samopomich” deputies also informed the President about the problems in law enforcement.
“The Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service actually have up to a month to finally demonstrate the results of their work. Either to show real steps towards punishing those guilty of plundering of the state or to resign. And we found mutual understanding with the President concerning this issue,” stated Oleh Bereziuk.
