“Samopomich” will support the bill on the state financing of parties.
This was announced by the Deputy Chairman of the “Samopomich” Union faction, Yehor Soboliev.
“The bill provides that a party will receive about 26 hryvnias per year per vote. With this money a party will have to support itself, publish all its incomes and expenses, and shall not be entitled to receive from companies and individuals the amounts of money above a certain level,” he said.
The MP says that the upper limit of the allowable contribution is still under discussion.
“The present situation is such that the majority of parties receive a lot of money, millions actually, from oligarchs. And it is important, at this stage at least, to make this legal. For people to see who sponsors a party, on whom it depends, and to draw conclusions,” stated the deputy.
Soboliev says that once we switch to a transparent system of political parties’ incomes and expenditures, then the maximum limit is to be strictly defined.
He adds that, according to the draft law, the party officials that will attract more money than allowed will be sentenced to 7-13 years in prison.
