Deputies propose to ban the sale of energy drinks with alcohol content, as well as to restrict the sale of energy drinks to non-adults.
This is stated in the bill №2470 «On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Adoption of Measures Aimed at Reducing the Consumption of Energy Drinks”, which was registered in the Verkhovna Rada. Co-authors of the bill are members of the “Samopomich” Union faction – Anna Romanova and Iryna Sysoyenko.
The explanatory note to the document states that the purpose of the law is to establish the legal basis of the sale of energy drinks in Ukraine, limiting the consumption of this product by children and youth.
For this purpose there is an offer to prohibit the retail sale of energy drinks with alcohol content on the territory of Ukraine; to set limits on the capacity of containers, used for retail sale of this product, at the level of 0.33 l; to restrict advertising of energy drinks on radio and television; to ban the sale of energy drinks to non-adults in children’s, educational, medical, and sports centres, in places of cultural events.
It is also proposed to oblige manufacturers of energy drinks to indicate on the product packaging and in its advertising the warnings about the consumption of energy drinks by non-adults, pregnant women, women who breastfeed, people who suffer from certain diseases.
