Over a week’s time, about five thousand residents of the city have attended a free medical examination in Lviv. As a rule, people have no time for a professional comprehensive examination. After all, one must arrange a visit to each individual doctor, then wait in long lines. Therefore, the “Healthy City” campaign launched by Samopomich Union together with the City Health Department organized a traditional annual event aimed at letting the people of Lviv have a free medical examination.
The citizens can get specialised medical consultations of therapists, cardiologists, endocrinologists, gynaecologists, mammologists, paediatricians, and family doctors. They can have their blood pressure measured, check the body mass index, test their vision, or measure the blood glucose level.
This year, the medical campgrounds are available from May 29 to June 9 in nine locations. It was decided to place them in those locations where there are recently opened family medicine outpatient clinics or where it is difficult for people to get to the relevant specialists.
“The examinations in the “Healthy City” do not require much time. They allow revealing at early stages the diseases that can be difficult to treat later. These diseases can be prevented through leading a healthy lifestyle, or with the help of a small number of medicines, which can help prolong the healthy life,” says Ihor Stoyanivskyi, a surgeon and a deputy of the Lviv City Council from the Samopomich Union faction.
This year, at all the locations, there are also counselling points for choosing a family doctor and signing relevant declarations.
