“Instead of demonstration firings at the training areas near Kyiv, I offer the chairman of the parliamentary Committee on National Security and Defence, Serhiy Pashynskyi, to go to the front, to the location of the brigade whose soldiers died during a mortar burst, and talk about modern weaponry there and test the weapon at the same time,” said a deputy of the Samopomich Union faction, Taras Pastukh.
The lawmaker noted that he had deliberately refused to participate in this show. “In two years, the chairman of the Committee has not found time to organize a field meeting in the ATO area. And that is exactly where one can hear the objective information about the quality of weapons. Therefore, in a telephone conversation with Serhiy Pashynskyi I offered to go to the front, instead of a training area near Kyiv. Many of our military are also interested in the price of the mortar. They have repeatedly asked me, “How come a metal pipe on a tripod with the Soviet gun costs as much as a new Japanese vehicle?” As you know, the price of the “Molot” mortar is nearly half a million hryvnias.
“It is all very good that Serhiy Pashynskyi considers it necessary to establish civilian control over the defence sector, including the defence enterprises. But I hope that following these loud statements, Serhiy Pashynskyi, being the current chairman of the Supervisory Board of SC “Ukroboronprom”, will let people’s deputies get acquainted with the contracts of the companies belonging to Ukroboronprom. Then, the whole country will see how billions of budgetary funds for weapons are spent,” said the deputy.
According to him, the whole Ukraine wants the ATO zone military to have high-quality and secure weapons. “And the defence order manufacturers to primarily think about the life and safety of our soldier, not the number of “zeros” in the contracts,” stated Taras Pastukh.
