The Verkhovna Rada has been considering amendments to the draft law #6232 for several days already. This law amends a number of procedural codes and legislative acts.
Samopomich MP Ruslan Sydorovych believes, “The procedural codes will affect the lives of all Ukrainians who will seek truth in courts. Annually there are from 10 to 15 million people doing this.
However, with the codes like these people will not find any truth there. Unless we bring the codes to rights, unless we put an end to the legal chaos, we will never give Ukrainians a chance to find the truth there.”
However, he continues, MPs don’t seem to be in a hurry to work on improvements. This is evidenced by the results of yesterday’s voting.
“The percentage of the participation in the voting for the amendments – Petro Poroshenko Bloc – 30%, People’s Front – 19%, the Opposition Bloc faction – 13%, the Revival group – 8%, the Samopomich faction – 61%, the Batkivshchyna faction – almost 38%, the Radical Party – 2%, the “The Will of the People” group – 3.6%, non-fractional deputies – 13%,” Ruslan Sydorovych names the numbers.
Summing up, he reminds, “Procedural codes are what determines the destiny of all other reforms we are talking about. Effective and fair courts are what breaks the chain, a vicious circle of not only corruption, but of all wrongful processes in the society.”
