The National Security and Defence Council stopped the transfer of goods through the contact line, except for humanitarian goods, and instructed the government to ensure the reliable functioning of the fuel and energy and metallurgical complexes.
As noted by MP Yehor Soboliev, Samopomich Union agrees with the decision of the National Security and Defence Council on blocking railroad and highway communication with the occupied territories and states that but for the blockade that this decision would not have been accepted.
“Our party and faction opposed to the trade with the occupied territories, believing that this trade provides our enemy with strength for new attacks against our lands and people and, because of corruption, destroys the ability of the Ukrainian state to defend itself: because of the corruption in the Armed Forces, the Security Service, the leadership of the country that has been covering this trade. We are very grateful to the people who, despite the rule of kleptocracy, the paralysis of the Ukrainian state, took actions and finally made the highest state institutions perform their duties on the defence of Ukraine,” says Yehor Soboliev.
Samopomich faction will examine the decision announced today by the President of Ukraine and the National Security and Defence Council’s Secretary to prevent those “loopholes” that were there in the previous government decision also adopted after the blockade began.
“The decision of the National Security and Defence Council is of a temporary nature. Therefore, we hope that all this will finally end in a civilized way, which we have offered since 2014. It is necessary to adopt a systemic solution in the form of the Law of Ukraine “On Temporarily Occupied Territories”. Let me remind you that this law narrows down the trade with the occupied territories to selling to them the products and commodities necessary for the survival of our citizens, and to the humanitarian aid under the control of international organizations.
The National Security and Defence Council’s decision would not have been possible without the pressure of people. According to the Constitution of Ukraine, people are the only source of power; therefore, the government is obliged to fulfill the demands of people. These guys, who are staying on the railroad today, are actually fighting for the country’s independence and are carrying out the work of the governmental bodies.
