The majority in the Verkhovna Rada appointed Ukrainian lawyer Volodymyr Vasylenko as a representative of the parliament in the commission for the audit of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Meanwhile, the faction of Samopomich supported the candidacy of the US prosecutor Thomas Firestone, who has been professionally engaged in the prosecution of Russian oligarchs.
“I want to draw your attention to the fact that the law provides for an external audit. This means that an auditor should be a person who does not work here, has no interests here, no relatives or other ties that can be used.
And the joy and enthusiasm with which the candidacy of Volodymyr Vasylenko was pushed through by the representatives of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, Narodnyi Front, and the Opposition Bloc, cannot have good reasons. This testifies to the desire to use the authority of this person and make him sign the “necessary” conclusion about the work of the head of NABU,” says MP Yehor Soboliev.
He also notes that the government has already appointed its representative in the Audit Commission of NABU, “Thus, now there will be two people who can be influenced and forced to write that Artem Sytnyk’s work was unsatisfactory.”
