Samopomich Union faction addressed to the Christian Democratic Appeal party in the Netherlands to support the ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
“The Ukrainian people, having made a European choice, began to fight for the values and principles that the EU’s founding fathers had laid in its foundation. Today, the people of Ukraine sacrifice their lives defending the values endangered by the Russian Federation with its hybrid war against Ukraine and whole Europe. During last years, Ukraine has made great progress in many areas. The anchor of these changes is the Association Agreement with the EU, which was to enter into force in 2016.
Today is the historic moment when the Netherlands should support the young European state. The Netherlands have one of the best traditions of preserving the values of freedom, democracy and respect for human rights in the world – these are the values for which we are fighting today in Ukraine.
Now Ukrainian and Dutch governments, together with European institutions, are working hard searching for answers to the doubts raised by the Dutch referendum on the ratification of the Association Agreement in April.
“I hope that the Christian Democratic Appeal party, as a member of the family of the European People’s Party, will contribute to the resolving of the situation and will support the present compromise solution,” says the leader of the Samopomich Union, Andriy Sadovyi, in his letter to the leader of the Christian Democratic Appeal party (Netherlands), Sybrand van Haersma Buma.
