October 18, the Parliament failed to overcome the President’s veto on the bill №4689, which allows the military who have concluded contracts “by the completion of the special period” to break them or to conclude new ones.
“Legislation of none of the European countries contains such a regulation on “termless contracts”. In Ukraine, the “lifetime” contracts were adopted in 2013 at the instigation of the government of Azarov.
“Samopomich” will insist on abolition of this regulation. If we want to increase the numerical strength of the Armed Forces this should be done by motivation and worthy treatment of soldiers, not by the laws of the time of Yanukovych-Azarov,” said Taras Pastukh, people’s deputy from the “Samopomich Union” faction.
The Committee on National Security and Defence will draft a new bill, which will be soon submitted to Parliament.
