“The country’s security is the direct responsibility of the head of state. One should not shift the responsibility for difficult tasks to the society tormented by war and poverty.”
This was written by the leader of the Samopomich party, Andriy Sadovyi, on his Facebook page, as a comment on the statements about the possibility of a referendum on a peace agreement with Russia.
The politician calls on President Zelensky to officially announce his position concerning the next steps in this direction.
According to him, in 2015, Samopomich has already voted against introduction of the “special status” for the occupied parts of Donbas in the Constitution.
“We were called “Kremlin’s agents”, accused of not understanding the ingenious idea behind this all, were told that was a formality necessary for the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Back then, changes to the Constitution in terms of the “special status” were tentatively approved by the votes of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, Narodnyi Front and the Opposition Bloc factions (the latter was particularly happy and knew well why).
What is needed for the final decision? A constitutional majority in parliament or… a referendum.
If the final legalization of the autonomy of “LNR-DNR” will be up to a referendum, then it will be a referendum on surrender. And the first step in this direction was made back in 2015,” wrote Sadovyi.
