“The ruling coalition does not want to create an independent bureau of investigations” – Sydorovych

The Verkhovna Rada returned all the bills on the State Bureau of Investigation for a repeated first reading.

As noted by Ruslan Sydorovych, Ukraine has been waiting for the State Bureau of Investigations for 22 years – since the adoption of the Constitution in 1996.

“Only in its eighth convocation, the parliament managed to pass this law, and this was only possible after two years of talks about its necessity. For another year and a half we waited for the completion of the procedure for electing the head, that is, the director of the SBI.

Today, Ukraine had a chance to receive a draft law that would let us, within six months, breathe life into this structure, which now exists only nominally. But such actions of the coalition indicate a reluctance to do so,” said Ruslan Sydorovych.
