As noted by Samopomich MP Lev Pidlisetskyi, the situation with the National Commission for State Regulation in Energy and Utilities is really critical: all markets are in manual management and are regulated only by the commission; but presently there is no quorum, therefore no decision can be made.
“But why has this happened and who is responsible for this? Until now, all the members of the NCSREU have been appointed by the President of Ukraine. Also, the President delayed the signing of the law on the regulator for two months.
We waited for the signing of the President’s decree concerning the beginning of the rotation of the NCSREU members for several months. The President is the last who delegated members to the nomination commission; at the same time, he only did this when there was already no quorum,” the MP says.
Lev Pidlisetskyi emphasizes that the temporary transfer of authority to delegate members of the NCSREU to the President exclusively, which was supported by the ruling majority of the parliament today, is a very dangerous phenomenon.
“But at the same time it is clear that the President himself must bear all political responsibility for the criminal decisions and inaction of the NCSREU: the terrible “Rotterdam+” formula, the tariffs for connection and other things that cost the state billions of hryvnias. And the transfer of these powers should also place a greater political responsibility on the President for everything that is happening now on the market, and what will happen next,” notes Lev Pidlisetskyi.
