On June 7, a public campaign called “Awareness Day” was held outside the building of the Kyiv city council in support of the creation of a museum in Poshtova Square. The inhabitants of Kyiv got entrance tickets, lined up and went through a symbolic entrance to the future museum.
It is today that the Kyiv city council is supposed to consider in the second reading the draft decision on the creation of the museum; however, the mayor has not included issue in the agenda.
“The issue of Poshtova Square embodies the problems of not only Kyiv, but of whole Ukraine; therefore, today’s campaign is very important. It would be impossible without you, the people of Kyiv. We know that these are only the first steps. But our ability to take these steps and to arrive at a common vision of the future of Kyiv is priceless,” said chairman of the Samopomich faction in the city council, author of the decision to create the museum in Poshtova Square, Serhiy Husovskyi.
MP Yehor Soboliev of the Samopomich Union parliamentary faction also joined the campaign.
“The decision to create a museum in Poshtova Square is very important. So I wish my colleagues from the Kyiv city council to have it adopted. I hope that in a couple of years we will all meet again at an actual entrance to the real museum,” the MP addressed the people of Kyiv.
Activists were heard: today the deputies will consider the draft decision on the museum in Poshtova Square. The mayor included the issue in the agenda of the plenary session.
