Oleksandr Danchenko: The war has been there for three years, and we still don’t have any regulatory act on cyber security

On Thursday, May 25, the Verkhovna Rada didn’t manage to pass and sent for the second reading the draft law #2126a “On the basic principles of ensuring the cybersecurity of Ukraine”.
According to Samopomich MP, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Informatization and Communication Oleksandr Danchenko, it was extremely important to adopt the document yesterday. He notes, “Everyone speaks a lot about the war, everyone is ready to defend and help. However, the war has been there for three years, and we still don’t have any regulatory act on cyber security.”
The people’s deputy is sure that the state needs this draft law in order to have a way to a real confrontation of the aggression, to protect national interests and start building a real cyber security system.
“This is a matter of national security. We know that in Ukraine there is a hybrid war. Cyberattacks are one element of this war. During the last month alone there were very many of them. Three weeks ago our committee met with the delegation of the National Security Committee of the United States of America, where the congressmen said that our cyberforces were the only ones in the world that could really oppose the cyberforces of the Russian Federation.
Therefore, the issues of cybersecurity are of vital importance,” concludes Oleksandr Danchenko.
