Given the fact that Russia is going to do everything to captivate the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian land – especially after the historic decision of the Ecumenical Patriarch – the task of the Ukrainian state is to ensure stability in the country in a quiet way, with no loud statements.
“Stability and safety in the country are paramount,” emphasizes the head of the Samopomich Union faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Oleh Bereziuk.
He specifies, “This will happen when the Ukrainian state as an institution will take care of the budget for the sake of both the state and its people. Unfortunately, the government is not willing to develop the budget on the basis of the tax on withdrawn capital. And this means the government is not going to start filling the budget with the money of the oligarchs instead of people’s money. As a proof of this, we have the State Fiscal Service and the customs controlled by the oligarchs.”
While the budget money gets lost at the customs, the government replenishes the deficit by closing schools and hospitals, underfunding educational and medical subventions, which are transferred to the responsibility of the local self-government plundering local budgets.
Oleh Bereziuk believes that the budget should be adopted on the basis of the law on the tax on withdrawn capital. The head of the faction appealed to the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada with the initiative to approve the relevant document before the adoption of the draft state budget for 2019.
“This will make the government get into the pockets of the oligarchs, not ordinary people. This will help support the Ukrainian economy and entrepreneurship, which today suffer from the uncontrollable SFS and the law enforcement agencies.”
Summing up, Oleh Bereziuk underscores that the authorities need to remember a simple truth, “History shows that Ukrainian people can never be enslaved. Ukrainians will never give up their freedom,” emphasizes Oleh Bereziuk.
