According to Oleh Bereziuk, chairman of the Samopomich Union faction, the state budget was adopted in the first reading in some “oligarchic frenzy”, under the guise of very valuable things and words. However, as a matter of fact, the document still contains a very big threat to local self-government, and other threats – like the one when funding of law enforcement agencies and the central government authorities increases, while medicine and education are underfunded.
“The totality of costs for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the National Guard exceeds the budget of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” Such things are unacceptable in a belligerent country.
In addition, no one even paid attention to the fact that the funding for central government – for management and salaries – was increased by 10 billion hryvnias, whereas the budget of medicine was reduced by 7 billion, and the education one – by 4 billion. And this is at a time when basic reform laws have been adopted in these areas. They simply will not start working without funding!” notes Oleh Bereziuk.
According to him, as a result of two weeks of heated discussions, it was possible to stop raising excises on radio frequencies: “This means that there is no reason to raise tariffs and communication fees in Ukraine; this norm was removed from the Tax Code due to our demands. But there is still a big threat to local self-government in the budget, since the oligarchic authorities need dependent officials and an apparatus of oppression – that is, a police state – rather than free communities.
Today there were gifts given in the parliamentary hall. Unfortunately, this is how vulgar the Ukrainian politics is. Indeed, there are still many lies. But at the same time, there are three weeks to reveal them and to work hard. The main thing is to speak frankly with people and never stop trying to do our best.”
