According to the Deputy Speaker Oksana Syroyid, the scandalous statements of the Prosecutor General Yu. Lutsenko are “a consequence of total impunity and irresponsibility. Both the Prosecutor General and the President have repeatedly violated the Constitution and despised the people who gave them power. We need a change of government because the current one is acting in the interests of Russia.”
She notes: “The President, as well as the people whom he appointed, used a lot of pro-American sweet rhetoric. However, in their actions they repeatedly threatened the relations of Ukraine and the United States, playing up to Russia. This is not the first such case. Syroyid’s opinion about playing into the hand of Russia is also supported by American analysts. Overseas, it is said that for some reason Lutsenko is spreading false information to damage the investigation of Russian interference in the US elections in 2016 and does this right before the investigation of Special Prosecutor Mueller regarding the Kremlin’s interference in the presidential election in which Trump won.
Former US Secretary of Defense Michael Carpenter even stated that unless Lutsenko provided evidence of what he accused the US ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, he would have to resign from the post of Prosecutor General.
Oksana Syroyid expressed another guess why Lutsenko’s statement emerged precisely now, a week before the election:
“Poroshenko, together with this so-called “team”, are preparing massive falsifications for the voting. In such a way they intent to neutralize the position of the US government and their any further statements. This is very sad, but I am almost sure that this is a plan to worsen relations with the US government. The current President and the Prosecutor General want the United States to “give up on” Ukraine, so to speak.”
Unfortunately, only the new government that comes after the elections can change this situation.
