As noted by Deputy Speaker Oksana Syroyid, behind its internal political battles Ukraine fails to see the aggravation of the foreign political threat.
“There was a conversation between President Putin, Chancellor Merkel and President Macron. Information from the Kremlin about this conversation is an alarming signal. What was actually discussed is the pressure on Ukraine for the purpose of permanently introducing a special status for the occupied Donbas and an amnesty for the militants. This is exclusively a Russian scenario, which will be imposed on the new President.”
Syroyid has also commented on the idea of Andriy Bohdan, President’s Chief of Staff, to hold a referendum in order to determine the format of negotiations with the Russian Federation.
“There should be no referendum on policy towards Russia. Ukrainians, just as citizens of any other country, choose their authorities so that the government could protect them from the enemy. We have a President – this is the Supreme Commander, a person who is responsible for foreign policy and security. The President has army and diplomacy for this. And his responsibility should not be shifted to people.”
