Iryna Sysoyenko: Even following the increase in the minimum wages, emergency doctors will receive only 2,800 hryvnias

People’s deputy of the Samopomich Union faction, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Health, Iryna Sysoyenko, has recently visited Kyiv regional centre for emergency medical care and disaster medicine.

“Since the beginning of my work in the Parliament, I have been advocating for the development of the emergency medical service, and creation of appropriate conditions for health workers and ambulance drivers among other things. I am convinced that people’s lives are in their hands precisely. The first thing I did having entering the centre – I asked the accountant’s office how the government promise to “increase salaries of doctors” and increase the minimal wage to 3,200 hryvnias was realized,” Iryna Sysoyenko informed.

Thus, according to the deputy, in January, a nurse’s aide, a medical assistant, a driver will all receive 2,575 hryvnias. An emergency doctor will receive 2,800 hryvnias, the head physician of the branch – Brovary station of emergency medical service – 3,500 hryvnias, a medical assistant with the experience of more than 20 years – 5,500 hryvnias, an anesthesiologist with the experience of more than 30 years – 5,900 hryvnias.

“Is there any state where the health workers, on whom the lives of the citizens depend, are less appreciated by the government and receive the salary lower than the one of cleaners in commercial establishments? For two years I have been demanding adoption of the bill №1164 in the second reading. The bill concerns the wages of the emergency service workers. My amendment on factoring funds into the state budget 2017 for the emergency medical care gained 220 votes in the Parliament. It lacked only 6 votes to be adopted. Nevertheless, I will continue to fight and continue to introduce amendments to the budget to make this financing possible!” said Iryna Sysoyenko.
