The leader of the Samopomich Union political party, Andriy Sadovyi, states that he understandingly accepts the decision of the mayor of Mykolayiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, to quit the party, which he made public on the Facebook page today.
“To win the elections in a very difficult region, to withstand the pressure from both ex-members of Yanukovych’s Party of Regions and the Petro Poroshenko Bloc (who eventually voted for his resignation), to go through our joint struggle for justice in courts and at the same time to try and develop the city is very, very difficult,” says Andriy Sadovyi.
The leader of Samopomich notes that despite the declared decentralization, the cities are still very dependent on the central authorities, the government and the President. “Therefore, the desertion of the party is one of the options for Sienkevych to reduce the political pressure and concentrate on the work in the city. We wish him the best of luck and prosperity for Mykolayiv!”
