Public disappointment is the worst thing that can be expected for Ukraine after the public opening of the officials’ capitals.
“If the transparency brought about by the electronic declarations doesn’t mean responsibility, they will set us back, says people’s deputy of the Samopomich Union faction, chairman of the Committee on Preventing and Combating Corruption, Yehor Soboliev.
In order to avoid this, every citizen has to say, “In my country there will be no politicians who cannot explain the origin of their property.” I have a huge request to everybody – every time you encounter a politician, ask them, “Can you elaborate on your declaration, please?”
Every time you have a chance to talk in social networks, in a taxi, anywhere, you should raise the question: “Where did you get that money from, why can’t you provide an explanation?”
According to the MP, this is a very important time for the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau; they must show the public that they are ready to take the responsibility, and that the new anti-corruption bodies are, indeed, a step forward.
“It won’t be easy. We have given this country to the people who have been embezzling it. In order to get it back, every one of us has to do a lot,” concludes Yehor Soboliev.
