Laws relating to medicine and health care almost never appear on the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada. This was underscored by MP representing Samopomich Union faction, Iryna Sysoyenko.
“For all the time of its work this Parliament has only managed to pass three minor bills related to health. While the mortality rate is increasing every year,” said Iryna Sysoyenko.
Consequently, at a meeting of the coordination board the MP appealed to the Speaker with a request to introduce into the agenda the bills that had been waiting for the second reading for over a year. This is, for example, a draft law #1164, which provides for fair wages of emergency brigades’ workers.
“Is people’s health really less important than, for example, law enforcement or foreign affairs? The latter are important, without doubt. However, given the huge mortality of citizens of Ukraine, I think, we should be able to define the priorities,” emphasizes Iryna Sysoyenko.
