Iryna Sysoyenko: The Verkhovna Rada unblocked the family transplantation

The Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft law 9461-d, which unlocked the possibility of doing family transplantation operations. The document is intended to overcome the critical situation that has developed in the field of transplantation.

The crisis was due to the late development and approval by the government of the by-laws necessary for the full legality of transplantation. MP Iryna Sysoyenko from the Samopomich Union faction tells the details:

“On January 1, the new version of the law came into force, but the government could not implement it, did not adopt the necessary by-laws, did not ensure proper information system, etc., so the transplantation issue was blocked for two months. According to information from law enforcement agencies, the activities of doctors who performed operations could be regarded as “black transplantation” and a violation of the law, including the Criminal Code. Therefore, we fought hard for this bill.”

“In fact, we are correcting the mistakes of the government for its inaction and are saving patients who cannot wait. Doctors do not have to worry now, they can work in peace and do their job,” concludes the parliamentarian.
