MP of the Samopomich Union faction, Iryna Sysoyenko, believes that today in Ukraine there is no comprehensive rehabilitation system. The Ministries of Health and Social Policy are having the same powers, hospitals of war veterans and members of ATO are also involved in the rehabilitation of the military. There is an extensive network of health centers and dispensaries, but the lack of a system and coordination cause inefficient use of resources and a low level of quality of rehabilitation services.
“Thus sometimes patients with spinal problems are sent for treatment to watering-places like Morshyn or Myrhorod. We all realize that rehabilitation is crucial to the combatants who have returned from the East. The issue of psychological and physical rehabilitation of the military, the post-stress syndrome fight – all of this must be discussed at the national level for the sake of reducing disability. But this issue is also extremely important for the people after heart attacks, strokes, accidents, injuries. To one extent or another, the rehabilitation system affects us all,” said Iryna Sysoyenko.
Thus, the people’s deputy initiated a bill №4458 «On prevention of disability and the rehabilitation system”, which was registered in the Verkhovna Rada back in April, however, it is still pending in the committee and is not be submitted to a vote in the parliamentary hall.
“With this document we can give the combatants and thousands of Ukrainian families the opportunity to receive high-quality and highly specialized rehabilitation. Thus, for the first time we are creating and introducing into law a definition of rehabilitation institutions, we are opening rehabilitation departments at each hospital, we are suggesting a single state rehabilitation program and its appropriate funding, for the medical services at every level to be completed with a relevant kind of rehabilitation,” concludes Iryna Sysoyenko.
