The transplantation system is not working in Ukraine. This is underscored by MP Iryna Sysoyenko from the Samopomich parliamentary faction.
“Several children are waiting for their lives to be saved, they should have a family liver, kidney transplantation, but, unfortunately, the doctors are afraid to perform these surgeries due to the fact that there is a legislative collapse – they are afraid to be subsequently called “black transplantologists” and to have criminal cases opened against them.”
And all this is because of the fact that since January 1, 2019, due to the inaction and negligence of the government in Ukraine, transplantation operations are blocked. Last year, the parliament adopted a new law, which was supposed to become effective from January 1, but the government did not prepare mechanisms for implementing this law, and out of 29 by-laws, only ONE was adopted. This legal conflict can cost the lives of patients.
During the hour of questions to the government, Iryna Sysoyenko asked why neither the leadership of the Ministry of Health nor the Prime Minister had asked the parliament to correct this situation and immediately vote to postpone the action of this law?
As it turned out, First Deputy Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv is aware of the problem. Moreover, he himself hears the question for the second time and considers it correct. In the end, Kubiv said that Iryna Sysoyenko’s question would be considered a deputy request from the Samopomich faction and asked the Ministry of Health to provide a clear answer within 10 days, as required by the procedure.
