These days the chairman of the Samopomich Union faction, Oleh Bereziuk, is visiting medical institutions and communicating with doctors and nurses in the villages and cities of Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, and Volyn regions.
“The medical reform – which is being blocked by the oligarchic authorities and the pharmacological mafia – should start from the training of doctors, nurses, the consciousness of local governments which need to take care of their medical and obstetrical stations and hospitals, as well as force the central government to change medicine in Ukraine,” says the people’s deputy.
Such visits to regions are made together with representatives of the International Program of the Children’s Medical Care Foundation, which has been working in Central Europe for 35 years and in Ukraine for the last 10 years. They have already made doctors in Tysmenytsia and Kolomyia in the Carpathian region, Kovel and Lutsk in Volyn region and in the villages of Oselia and Cherchik in the Lviv region aware of real opportunities of undergoing quality training and internships in modern world clinics.
“The sentiments among doctors are different. There are pessimistic ones, since the medicine today is surviving only due to the patients’ money doctors and nurses’ enthusiasm.
However, there are also inspired people who want to work and will work. A proverb “Our strength is in ourselves, the world belongs to the strong” should be a motto everywhere, especially in medicine. If this does not happen, there will be neither doctors nor patients,” Oleh Bereziuk says.
“We all need a medical reform which will help make a really qualitative leap in the development of health care. The formula of “money follows the patient”, which is the basis of the reform, will help professional doctors regardless of where they work – in large hospitals, or at obstetrical stations – to get proper funding for work,” notes deputy of the Lviv Regional Council Paraskeviya Dvorianyn.
