“MPs have once again showed their true colours – they are hostages of the oligarchy and sycophant of their paymasters” – Oleh Bereziuk

As stated by the chairman of the Samopomich faction, Oleh Bereziuk, not having arrived at a consensus regarding the bill on temporarily occupied territories, the Committee on State Construction has rejected its own and the Cabinet’s high-quality work.
“This law today is an objective reality that could allow the Ukrainian state to develop qualitatively – economically and politically. Moreover, this law is intended to help those who are currently in captivity. As a matter of fact, these people are not officially recognized as captives, they are either considered to be hostages or detained on the territory of Ukraine, not the temporarily occupied territory, and, accordingly, they are not protected by international laws.
Also, this bill helps people living in temporarily occupied territories to be protected by international law, because today there is no control of the Ukrainian state, and the control of the aggressor state is not recognized. This is lawlessness,” Oleh Bereziuk is convinced.
The chairman of the faction notes that if the relevant committee had arrived at a consensus, it would have significantly reduced the procedure and would have allowed the parliament to quickly adopt this law which both the state and the people who live in it need very much.
