A group for verification of recipients of social benefits and pensions, which operates in the Ministry of Finance, has established 379, 000 people receiving social services with forged documents.
“Nevertheless, the state does not recognize that the work of this group today has a huge positive effect on the state budget – it makes up 1.4 billion hryvnias per month. This is the sum that is illegally obtained from the state budget every month, according to the findings of the group. This is more than 15 billion per year,” says Tetiana Ostrikova, people’s deputy of the Samopomich Union faction, member of the Committee on Taxation and Customs Policy.
Samopomich Union faction considers this unacceptable and requires factoring the effect of verification of recipients of social benefits and pensions into the draft budget for 2017 in its preparation for the second reading.
“Moreover, we draw attention to the fact that, virtually, this is the first time social funds are in surplus, and by the end of the year it will amount to about 15 billion hryvnias. At the same time, the draft state budget for 2017 provides additional funding for social payments in the amount of 36 billion hryvnias. Consequently, a question arises: what is the point of increasing funding for these funds if by the end of the year they are going to have a surplus of 15 billion hryvnias? Why aren’t these billions taken into account by the government in the preparation of the state budget for 2017?” underlines Tetiana Ostrikova.
