Andriy Sadovyi withdrew his candidacy form the election of the President of Ukraine. Anatoliy Hrytsenko pledges himself to be honest.
The corresponding agreement was signed today by the leader of the Samopomich Union, Andriy Sadovyi, who withdrew from the presidential race, and the chairman of the Coordination Council of the “Civic Position”, a candidate for the post of president of Ukraine Anatoliy Hrytsenko.
According to Andriy Sadovyi, when taking that step he clearly realized that changes were important at that time. “I would really want all Ukrainian politicians to realize their personal responsibility for the situation that has developed in the country. Our agreement is somewhat unconventional for Ukrainian politics, but if we want to re-establish the state, the steps important for the country should be built on the foundation of trust,” said Andriy Sadovyi.
Anatoliy Hrytsenko thanked Samopomich Union and added that since their basic values coincided, “there was no point in writing out everything”:
“It is for the first time that the candidate, who has a powerful party and parliamentary faction behind, and who had prospects for winning, withdrew from the elections. But it was a conscious decision that confirmed that the Ukrainian democrats are capable of uniting not only out of fear. I promise I won’t let you down.”
We shall recall that on Friday, March 1, the mayor of Lviv, the leader of Samopomich, Andriy Sadovyi, announced that he was withdrawing his candidacy from the election of the president of Ukraine and supported the candidacy of Anatoliy Hrytsenko. On March 5, the Central Election Commission cancelled the registration of Andriy Sadovyi as a presidential candidate.
