The leader of Samopomich Andriy Sadovyi commented on the situation with the exclusion from the party of four deputies of the Kyiv City Council and the further dissolution of the faction.
“It’s easy to adhere to one’s principles in words only. It is much more difficult to apply the principles to your own people. When President Poroshenko was appointing Prosecutor Yarema, he quoted the phrase of Lee Kuan Yew that the fight against corruption should begin with the imprisonment of friends. However, I do not remember any imprisoned friends either of the Prosecutor General or the President. But this is a different story.
Deputies of the city council took part in a small episode of a large corruption scheme. And so the consequences were inevitable,” emphasizes Sadovyi and thanks deputy Natalia Manoyenko, who was the first to draw attention to the corruption threat in the faction.
“We did our best to try to avoid the occurrence of the further events. Yet, they did take place. If we want a new Ukraine, we have no other choice but to get rid of the slightest signs of dishonesty. Otherwise, nothing will change. It hurts, but it’s right,” said the leader of Samopomich.
We shall recall that the executive committee of the Samopomich political party decided to exclude four deputies of the Kyiv City Council from party members because of the fact they had supported the decision of the Kyiv City Council to allocate land plots to the relatives of their colleague Roman Marchenko, who had previously illegally seized them. The party will initiate a procedure of recalling all the deputies who voted for the corruption decision and will submit the materials of their own investigation to the NABU and NAPC.
