The Verkhovna Rada appointed one of the members of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting using its quota. During the discussion, the chairman of the Samopomich Union faction in the parliament, Oleh Bereziuk, stated that the National Council should be reformed completely, not partially. The reason for this is the need to resist monopolism which reigns in a number of strategic sectors.
MP states: “We are observing a complete absence of any independent regulator in Ukraine. The antimonopoly committee is working to the benefit of oligarchs monopolizing the Ukrainian economy. The National Committee for State Regulation in Energy and Utilities is a regulator of energy management monopoly. Unfortunately, the same is observed in the field of television and radio broadcasting.”
Thus, at present, the largest television monopolies belong either to the enemy or the oligarchs. Therefore, we need a complete reformation of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting.
“Information is a weapon, and today this weapon is in the hands of either the enemy or domestic corrupt officials and oligarchs,” concludes Oleh Bereziuk.
