The leader of the Samopomich Union parliamentary faction, Oleh Bereziuk, calls on the mayors of Ukrainian cities to pay a visit to the National Commission for State Regulation in Energy and Utilities next week and to demand restoration of the night tariff for electricity.
“This has already gone too far. City mayors have received a Christmas gift – letters from the regional power companies, which say that from January 1, 2019, electricity for legal consumers that have zone metres installed will be sold at retail tariffs without the use of tariff coefficients. This means – without the night tariff.”
Bereziuk wonders why the power companies had forced everyone to install zone metres?
“To have an opportunity to rob budgets today?” The cancellation of the night tariff increases the costs for night lighting alone by 50%. Consequently, now either light will be turned off at night, which is very dangerous today, or money will be taken from medicine, education, energy saving.”
By the way, besides lighting, the night tariff for electricity was used by water utilities to make water cheaper for people.
“We urge all mayors of Ukrainian cities not to be silent and pay a visit to the National Commission for State Regulation in Energy and Utilities, which is subordinate to the President of Ukraine. The government assures that this is not their business, this decision was made by NCSREU precisely.
This is a shame in the 28th year of Ukraine’s independence people are being robbed like this!”
