Bereziuk: The main task of the state is higher pensions and salaries

Today the state has a real opportunity to improve the living standards of citizens by ensuring decent pensions and salaries, Oleh Bereziuk, chairman of the “Samopomich” parliamentary faction, believes .
“Today Ukrainians are asking the authorities how it is possible survive with 949, 1200, 1488 hryvnias. A family of two people may be earning 5,000 hryvnias per month, but they have to spend almost 3.5 thousand to pay the rent and for the utilities. And thus many Ukrainians are on the edge of poverty. Therefore, our number 1 task is to increase pensions and salaries. This is a difficult task for the state. However, we do have the necessary money – at the customs. This state structure is robbing the country blind, and we fail to do away with this,” stated Bereziuk.
The lawmakers assumes that in the case of the government’s inactions concerning redressing the tariffs and pensions and salaries issues, new protests should be expected.
That is why Bereziuk believes that improvement of the living standards of Ukrainians should be envisaged in the state budget of Ukraine for 2017.
“It is important to increase the income of Ukrainian citizens and document this while drafting the new budget. Last year we saw the main economic document of the country a week before the vote. We hope that this year we will see the budget in September and will start working on it. We realize that the budget won’t satisfy everybody. Nevertheless, the state budget must provide the mechanisms that will help citizens weather the storm,” the MP says.
