Andriy Sadovyi: Yanukovych’s henchmen, who were killing people, today have united with the President’s party and are doing huge damage to the country again

During his speech at the all-Ukrainian gathering for the “Great Political Reform”, the mayor of Lviv and leader of the Samopomich Union Andriy Sadovyi has noted that today the people outside the Verkhovna Rada are united by the fact that they are free and want to live in a free state.

“In our Constitution, it is written in black and white that the people are the source of power, and when there is trouble in the country our people gather, come out and start waking up the authorities that are falling asleep. We still remember the price we recently paid for a better future. But today, Yanukovych’s henchmen, who not long ago were killing people, have united with the President’s party and are doing huge damage to the country again. Look at the level of corruption in Ukraine. Look at what they did two weeks ago in Mykolayiv. People chose Sienkevych their mayor two years ago – a young, honest guy managed to beat the ghosts of the Party of Regions in the elections. They brazenly removed him with the help of the President’s faction and Yanukovych’s henchmen. Shame!

MPs must adopt a new law on the Anti-Corruption Court. What we have today looks as follows – a corrupt official is caught, all the media actively report about this, and the next day the criminal is quietly released. Shame! Corruption is like hell, it corrodes and destroys. If we want to overcome this corruption, we must have a new law on elections with open lists.

This is not to mention the immunity issue – it is just ridiculous. From year to year, both MPs and presidents keep promising to cancel it. Why do MPs who are supposed to be our servants get any special statuses? All should be equal before the law!

I understand that a difficult road awaits us – issues like these will not be solved overnight. But if we want to live in a strong, independent country, there must be no corruption. I believe in all of us, I believe in common sense. Glory to Ukraine!” said Andriy Sadovyi.
