Vice President of the European Commission for Energy Union, Maros Sefcovic, sent a letter to Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman urging to speed up the adoption of the law on electricity market by calling a meeting with the leaders of the coalition and involving Samopomich MP Lev Pidlisetskyi.
“It’s a pity that the process of adoption of the electricity market law is such a slow one that it has only passed the first reading so far. This law will be of key importance in the process of reforming the electricity market and introducing more transparent and fair rules for the production and supply of electricity.
The functioning of the electricity market based on fair competition will ultimately contribute to alleviating the problems that Ukraine is facing, for example, in the field of energy tariffs.
The meeting with the leaders of the coalition, which supports the government in the parliament, as well as MP Lev Pidlisetskyi as a rapporteur on this law, may be useful for facilitating the rapid adoption of the law in accordance with the third energy package,” the appeal says.
