Today, on April 2, at 10 am, under the house of the deputy of the Samopomich faction in the Kyiv city council, Olha Balytska, unknown people brought a coffin and held a “funeral procession”.
The participants of the dubious performance hang up photos of the deputy and invited the orchestra, which played mourning music. For as much as an hour they simulated the farewell to Olha Balytska. As it turned out later, this action was an authorized one, and it was held under the supervision of the police.
“I regard this as an attempt to interfere with my activities aimed at combating illegal buildings. I believe such methods are beyond any morality. But I want to inform those who organized all this – they have not reach their goal of intimidating me,” Olha Balytska said.
The deputy has filed a police report, but we want to note that this is not the first time that Ms. Balytska is intimidated – the deputy has previously faced threats directly related to her activities.
According to the chairman of the Samopomich faction in the Kyiv city council, Serhiy Husovskyi, this event is another example of the insane pressure exercised onto Samopomich all over the country. “Such cynical means of moral pressure will inevitably affect the lives of their very authors – those who don’t like the truth, for whom there are no principles or good faith. For us, this is another confirmation that we are moving in the right direction. We are convinced that the direction of our work is correct. No matter how much we will have to struggle, we will break the tradition of treason and corruption conspiracies, which continues to prevail both in Kyiv and throughout the country,” Serhiy Husovskyi said.
Kyiv Samopomich is addressing the Kyiv mayor, Vitaliy Klychko, with a request to state whether he knew about the permission granted by the mayor’s office for this action, and in case he did know – whether he considers such performance moral and human. We also require assistance in stopping threats to the community representatives on the part of the building owners’ mafia and we ask to take personal control over the situation with systemic threats to Kyiv city council deputy Olha Balytska.
We also demand that Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Chairman of the National Police Serhiy Kniaziev, and Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv Andriy Kryshchenko should take this cynical case under his personal control.
